My cardiologist referred me to EB Nutrition to obtain a nutrition plan to lower my blood pressure. I was not overweight, so I didn’t know how a diet could really improve my symptoms. I figured they would just tell me to cut back on salt and fat in my diet, however I was surprised to learn that high blood pressure is the result of so much more. The EB Dietitians put me on what they refer to as a “low stress” diet and explained that how meal combinations and timing of foods can have a huge impact on blood pressure. They also asked me about my sleep patterns and pointed out that my insomnia was major blood pressure trigger. We adjusted my evening meal schedule with foods that promote relaxation and I began a supplement regimen to help relax my mind and calm down racing thoughts. We also discussed mind/body techniques to use to promote relaxation. The overall results of this program have been amazing! After 3 months on the program, I have been able to get off of my blood pressure medication. I never thought this would be possible.
